Romans 10:13-18 - For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things. But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our report? So then; faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, have they not heard?  Yes indeed; their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

STUDY TOPIC FOR TONIGHT

Exodus 33: The Command to Leave Sinai

Good evening, welcome to our Tuesday Night Bible Study. Tonight we continue our study of Exodus 33. In this chapter, God tells Moses to depart from the place they were in and go to the land that He promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; He goes further to say that He would not be going with them, because He said He might destroy them. Instead, He said He would send His angel before them. In this study we will be reading and discussing the following topics along with other reference scriptures for encouragement, renewed hope and faith, and further clarification:

  • The Lord refuses to go with Israel. (verses 1-6)

  • Moses takes his tent and pitches it far away from the camp. (verses 7-11)

  • Moses desires to see the glory of God. (verses 12-23)

The people of Israel committed a great sin against God (Exodus 32:30-31); and God’s anger was kindled against them. Throughout scripture, we find that Israel continued in their sin, in their worship of idols, and in their serving of false gods; this was God’s grievance against Israel, it continues to be God’s grievance against humanity to this day. Even though we are able to see our own sin through Israel’s behavior, we choose to continue in sin, and we continue to make excuses in our feeble attempt to justify sin.

God Has Not Cast His People Away

  • Romans 5:6-11 (For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly)

  • 1 Samuel 2:2-10 (No one is holy like the Lord)

  • Joel 2:28-32 (I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh)

  • Ephesians 1:3-14 (He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world)

  • Romans 5:12-21 (If by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many)

  • Romans 11:1-36 (God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew)

  • Ephesians 4:1-6; Ephesians 4:25-32 (Walk in unity; do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption)

  • Matthew 13:24-30 (The parable of the wheat and the tares)

  • Matthew 13:27-43 (The parable of the wheat and the tares explained)

  • Psalm 91:1-16 (The safety of abiding in the presence of God)

  • Revelation 14:1-20 (Behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads)

  • Exodus 23:20-33 (I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared)

  • Matthew 24:29-31 (He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other
